The crosses were designed and made by Lyle Benton and Marion Stoner, and the clay tiles were designed and made by Donna Stoner, an artist at Saint Theresa's. Donna is the daughter of members Dawn and Marion Stoner. The stations of the cross were made in memory of Morris Walker, with money received at the time of his death, April 13, 2006, and were first used on Good Friday 2007, as church members walked the stations in the "wilderness" desert area on the church property. The station tiles are now hanging in the sanctuary for all to see. The crosses can be used in the wilderness/desert path at the time of the Stations of the Cross service each year.

On Good Friday 2007 Fr. Allen dedicated the crosses and Carol Walker thanked those who worked so diligently in creating them. Carol feels this is a fitting memorial for Morris as he loved the wilderness and Carol feels he lived and died walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Joe Owen led a dedicated group of workers, who trimmed, raked, and chipped bushes and trees along the wilderness path, to make it a welcome path to humbly pray and praise the Stations of the Cross. This is a great addition to St. Matthew's.
